GET IN THE KNOW 9/20/22
This digital series will provide you with an opportunity to hear from and have a dialog with those looking to fill important roles throughout the region. Our series will kick off on September 14th and run through October. Sessions will take place on zoom at 4 PM each Wednesday during this period.
The South County Economic Development Council is a non partisan organization and does not support or endorse candidates. This series is designed to foster a conversation about important issues in our communities. Helping connect our communities, residents, and businesses with community leaders is at the very core of what we do.

Local and state lawmakers have announced a $150 million federal grant to
build a third port of entry in San Diego at Otay Mesa East to reduce wait times and improve bi-national commerce.
“I have been proud to support efforts to upgrade transportation infrastructure
around the San Diego County-California border, and I am excited to announce
that $150 million in federal funding has been awarded to the project,”
said Sen. Alex Padilla.
Located in the Otay Ranch community, Avalyn has 480 apartments spread out over eight buildings and looks more like a new city than just another residential project. Spread across 12 acres, Avalyn was designed to look like an urban village with parking hidden from view, a wide central street and retail tucked into bottom floors.

Five students from Chula Vista and El Cajon schools have been selected from 123 submissions as the winners of Otay Water District’s 2022 Water is Life Student Poster Contest. They were
awarded for their creativity and awareness of the importance of using water wisely every day and in times of drought.
Free Ride Day is taking place Wednesday, October 5. Trolleys, COASTER, SPRINTER, and fixed-route buses will be totally free to ride. Free Ride Day is being held in conjunction with California’s Clean Air Day, where residents across the state of California will take steps to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
